Guatemala

Guatemala is a country about the size of Tennessee with a population of 12 million people. It ranks 6th in the world for malnutrition. Feeding God's Children presently partners with two organizations that minister to the children of Guatemala.

Rancho Esperanza - Rio Dulce, Guatemala

Feeding God's Children partners in Guatemala with Rancho Esperanza. "Hope Ranch" is an orphanage run by Mike and Karen Rhea in the Rio Dulce-Lake Izabel region of Guatemala. Their vision has been to have a self-sustaining farm that would provide a home for children, a loving Christ-centered atmosphere, and training for the children to prepare to go to school or work a trade as they get older. They recount, "God has orchestrated everything along the way since His vision for our lives; from relationships, to support, and 40 acres of overgrown land turned into a Christ- centered safe haven for children in the area."

Presently there are 11 children who call Rancho Esperanza "home." You can learn more about the Ranch by visiting their website, rayodeesperanza.org.

La Mision - Palencia School

Our partnership with Dr. Tito Palacios and La Mision with its project, Palencia School (PreK-6th grade) has gotten off to a great start! The school is located about 45 minutes outside of Guatemala City.  Presently, all of the 135 children at the school have been sponsored! In January, they will be adding about 50 new students, so we'll have more sponsorships available!

Each child receives a quality Christian education in a loving, supportive and disciplined environment, daily vitamins and snacks, and weekly medical care. Parents of the students are required to pay a portion of the tuition, but because of the area's poverty, supplemental support is need.  Sponsors receive a picture and profile of their child and letters from their children containing updated information! We hope to have a sponsor trip to the school in the first quarter of 2012 so be looking for more info in the coming months.
